How to Sell Code Snippets and Guides Online

Most people overbuild the first version of "selling something online." Before setting up a storefront or a course platform, it is worth asking whether a single link would already do the job.

When a paywalled paste is enough

If what you are selling is fundamentally text - a script, a config, a guide, a set of notes - a paywalled link covers the whole transaction: title and description as the preview, full content locked until payment, automatic payout after.

  • No product catalog to build.
  • No separate payment integration to wire up yourself.
  • One link you can drop anywhere - a tweet, a Discord message, a README.

What this does not replace

It is not a course platform, a subscription product, or a way to manage a catalog of dozens of items with rich media. For a single piece of content you want to charge for right now, though, it is usually the fastest path from "I wrote this" to "I got paid for this."

See our guide to selling text online for the full walkthrough, including how pricing and payouts work.
